The wooded area in Hunter Brook Linear Park is composed of stands of Norway Spruce, beech, oak, maple, and tulip trees. The park is home to mink, muskrat, native brook trout, sunfish, frogs, and salamanders. An agreement with the developer of adjacent housing and the Town of Yorktown in conjunction with Yorktown and Westchester Land Trust have made Hunter Brook Preserve possible.

With plentiful shade from towering trees and the cool effects of swiftly flowing water, Hunter Brook Preserve is the perfect respite from a scorching summer day. But no need to limit a visit to the dog days of August, for this preserve is a pleasure in any season. Hunter Brook is also home to mink, muskrat, native brook trout, sunfish, frogs, and salamanders.
