Do you enjoy getting off of the beaten path? Eager to wield a compass and protect the Appalachian Trail? Take this workshop to learn how to navigate through the woods and preserve the A.T.!

Corridor monitoring helps to protect the land that the Appalachian Trail passes through, including the boundary of the property it occupies.

This course will help you to gain or improve upon the skills necessary to become a Trail Conference Corridor Monitor. Skills include: reading survey maps and navigating off trail using a compass and GPS, recognizing land encroachments and illegal use, preserving access to survey monuments, and reporting conditions.

This is a hands-on class; in order to practice these skills, we will be bushwhacking through the woods! Please come prepared with:

  • Long pants
  • Sturdy, closed-toe shoes
  • Plenty of water
  • Lunch and snacks
  • Bug repellent that is effective against ticks

Please register. Space is limited.
