| Park Description: | Ted Stiles Preserve at Baldpate Mountain is named to honor the Rutgers University professor of biological sciences who campaigned for nearly a decade to make the park a reality. (Baldpate Mountain was previously known as Kuser Mountain.) At 470 feet, the peak of Baldpate Mountain is Mercer County’s highest elevation. The Preserve is home to an array of native plant communities and wildlife. Hikers will find a diverse, and in places a rugged, topography of mature forest and open meadows. Hours of Operation: Daily, Dawn to Dusk, mid-February to mid-November; Sundays year round (calendar roughly correlates with the NJ hunting season). |
| Trails Overview: | The web map (link above) shows a cluster of trails in the eastern and western ends, connected by the Ridge Trail (white). Most of the dozen or so trails aare converted woods roads with blazes. The yellow-blazed switchback trail (from Route 29 to the Red Loop) shows up as an unmarked trail on the map.
