Park Description:

Paralleling the Pequest River east of the intersection of US 46 and NJ 31 in Warren County, the approximately 4,000-acre Pequest WMA is managed for upland game hunting and trout fishing.  A unique facility is the Trout Hatchery and Natural Resource Education Center
Trails Overview:
  • Three  short marked trails are located in the trout hatchery area.  The Red Trail is an interpretative trail.  All three trails may be combined for form a 1.2 mile loop hike.  Follow the "Pequest Trails Guide" link near the bottom of the wildlife area's web page [below under Contact Information].
  • Two abandoned railbeds pass through Pequest wildlife management area; most of the ties have been replaced with a cinder surface.  One access point is via the trout hatchery entrance road.
  • Hikers who wish to explore the area off trail should obtain the Washington USGS topographic quadrangle map;  or free scanned copies are available at the USGS web site
