    Park Description:

    The preserve is a compilation of three estates that once stood in the region, and some of the remains of these estates can still be seen while exploring the park. The terrain is relatively flat, with a few rolling sections. There is plenty of bird activity here most of the year including ducks, waders, indigo buntings and deep blue birds. Persimmon trees also thrive in this area. In addition, the preserve is used extensively by horseback riders who gain access from Route 106 parking lot. Cross-country skiing is also possible in the winter (Hiking Long Island guidebook).
    Trails Overview:

    The best way to enjoy this preserve is to pick up a map at the Muttontown Lane entrance and start from the north end near the nature center. During the fall season, the transitional second growth hardwoods are very colorful, and on sections of trail in the northwest portion towering evergreens make the walk all the more diverse. 
    Directions:

    To get to the main entrance and preserve building take LIE ext 41 north following the fork to the right to Route 106. Go north on Route 106 for about 3.75 miles and make a left onto Route 25A. Make another left in 0.1 mile onto Muttontown Lane. The entrance is straight ahead.

    Path not maintained

    On August 19th, 2010 tribeca3nyc says:
    We went here and found the parking entrance was not accessible (the gate is chained closed). A friend in the area said there are some political reasons that this preserve is not maintained or accessible at this time. It looks like it would be beautiful to hike though.
