Located on the North Shore of western Suffolk County in Huntington Township is a large peninsula with much woodlands, beachfront and historic charm.

Park Description:

The park has fields, beaches and woodlands with steep bluffs to explore. This is a good place for children to get acquainted with hiking, and there is an environmental educational center to visit as a family. Many bird species can be found in the patches of woods adjacent to the Sound, and even Theodore Roosevelt used to take his family to the area for day hikes when he was President (Hiking Long Island guidebook).
Trails Overview:

One can spend the better part of a day strolling the wide lanes or exploring the lesser used side paths which are surprisingly tranquil and undisturbed by civilization. The paths are excellent for cross country skiing when snow coverage is adequate. 
Directions:

Take LIE exit 49 north several miles all the way into the village of Huntington. Make a right turn onto Main Street (Route 25A) and go a little over 0.1 mile. Make a right onto West Neck Road and continue about 5 miles onto the Lloyd Neck Peninsula to the entrance on the left.
